Information For Homeowners Facing Foreclosure
Are you having problems making your mortgage payments?
Have things gotten so bad that you have stopped making your mortgage payments?
Have you started getting delinquency notices in the mail from your lender and now they are going to file a Notice of Default? Or has it already been filed?
Whatever you do, don't just wait for your home to be foreclosed!
There are a number of options for homeowners who are suffering hardship and who are unable to pay their mortgage.
- Your lender may agree to restructure your loan so that you don't lose your home.
- New legislation passed in August 2008 (HR 3221, the Housing and Economic Recovery Act) may save you.
- A Short Sale may be the answer for you - it is often a much better solution than foreclosure.
The attitude of many lenders to Short Sales has recently changed. Short Sales can be a much faster and more streamlined process than before. Even if you have a first and a second loan on your home where the second is a revolving line of credit, a Short Sale may now be a much better alternative than Foreclosure. Even if you have more than one home and you want to sell the one that is not your Primary Residence as a Short Sale, this is now often a real possibility. |
